    7A rods and CR

    Hi guys,

I just searched over forum about 7A rods and finded differend information. Some it says that 7A rods are same like 3b/aby/etc, and some not. I have friend how needs couple rods and he' s thinking is 7A rods good for it?

and about CR. In what kind of power(boost) level should it be lowered and how much? How it will effect normal steet drive and fuel consumption?

    regards,
    Marek

NO conrods from audi will stand the power and moment(400hp and 500nm limit) by something like the mls gasged and you will ahve lower cr...(034 efi one)

I could have sworn they were but i'm starting to question myself now

I remember taking the ABY apart and thinking they were different, they have a machined flat surface between the bolts with two letters stamped on them, EE or something like that. Jumped out at me straight away as i dont remember the 7A looking like that inside.

I must be mistaken so dont mind me ...etka should confirm if the part nos are the same?

Well they look the same, but the part numbers are different. There are some cast numbers that are different too.
Knowing what accountants are like, Audi probably reduced the quality of the material for the 3B and ABY engines.

I was going to ask what year 7a they came out of? I have a late model 7A that had the cheap cast manifold, wouldnt surprise me if they put different rods in.

Can you look up a 16v golf engine out of interest?

Different again by the looks of it.
The 7A rod (the one on the left btw) is from a '91 model.

SOME 7A conrods: are revolverbored to the x-pin. BUT NOT stronger, thats for sure....( have they at home, and the trashcan are waitin for them.give away part) some diesels conrods may be stronger; but by H-PROFIL ones( any H-profils) they be stronger than the org anyway.
