    Clutch change

Got the nice task of changing the clutch on my car this week, if my parts turn up Just wondering if its possible to do the job over a pit?

Any BTDT pointers would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

edit// I think you meant youve done "a box" on your own before right??

If so..The S2 box weighs a lot and is not do able without some superhuman effort and of course a gearbox jack...
A 4 poster ramp would make the job a lot easier but it should be possible with a pit.

LOL Not done a gearbox change on my own, was a S2Forum effort. I've got use of a pit for the rest of the week so thought i'd ask.

If anyone could lift the box out on their own it would be chris!

I do them on my own but use a hydraulic gearbox stand with the car on ramps - not afun job though!

He might even have to use two hands on a 6 speeder.

Chris you got some time to work on the S2 now it's Dakar season? What clutch are you fitting - assuming that it was uprated already? :mischeif:

Yeah having some time off mate. Wanted to get the clutch done this week but the guy is still waiting for the uprated diaphram. Its been on the stock clutch for the last 4 years or so, not as crap as people might think. Uprated one going in tho

                        Cheers

I've done a ur on axle stands and wheel ramps just lying under the car with the box on my chest, not fun though, and I was younger then In fact I had to do it twice cos I changed the friction plate and didn't realise the diaphragm spring was broken, nightmare..

Its a clutch specialist in Leeds that make them for all makes and models. They say they are at least 30% stronger than stock units, (conservative estimate). He's just waiting for the uprated diaphram to arrive. Once i get it i'll post some pics.

                              Cheers,
