  • Garret GTX2867r Gen2

I want to buy a turbo garret for my s2, someone has tried the turbo garret GTX2867r Gen2 in his audi?

  • #2
I ran a gen1 and it was a really good turbo. No surge and fast spool. About 425 bhp.

      I'm hesitating between a gtx2867r gen2 and a gtx3071r gen2
Which would be the best option?

        GTX2867 is a 400hp turbo.
        GTX3071R is a 500hp turbo

        Pretty big damn difference.

Have you seen the G-550/660 turbos?

They seem pretty good on paper, different design, more efficient and the 0.72ar turbine flows the same as the 0.63ar on the gen2 3071r. I'm waiting for someone to try the 660 to see how it works

Before - HX35 Super, After Airwerks S200SX-E with 0.63 housing.
Had a little surge if I held it at 3.5k, but dropping the boost down at that rpm solved it.

120 hp more and 100nm more throughout the range. This is with only 0.15 bar more boost. With the same boost it already made 80hp more.
Car has stock displacement, full engine build with 8.0:1 CR and WMI.

Boost was 2.35 bar in the midrange, and 2.25 bar on top.

Customer fitted it, I only did the mapping
But I think this highlights very well how going ahead 2 generations in turbos increases the power without losing any lowdown torque.

The s200sx-e uses EFR wheels, but the CHRA is classic on journal bearings. I think a full EFR turbo might have been even a tad better, but this car already had KKD manifold with turbosmart gate and N75 control plumbed, so it made no sense to fit an EFR from a financial standpoint - all of the packaging advantages go to waste.
