    650 bhp Build

Gents, I've tried to have a look around but not yet been able to find anything. I've bought a second engine to do a build and i'm aiming for power that starts with a 6 and bags of torque.

I'm currently running a k26/27 turbo on a wagner manifold with wagner intercooler on standard inlet and engine internals so I think pretty much everything will be new.
    Bosch 044 pump.

So what is the shopping list?

Rods and pistons? Standard bore? Engine balance to allow more revs?
    Headwork?
Turbo, I really don't know much about specs for these, borg warner vs garret or holset?
    external wastegate, which one?
I can get pipes and even an exhaust manifold made or is there one I can buy?
Do I need the reverse inlet manifold? Again I could get a bigger intercooler made or buy a wagner item but the reverse manifold and intercooler adds up to a few quid very quickly.
I already have a full 3" exhaust but can make a new down pipe to fit.
    Which injectors?
Mototronic management or aftermarket? I'm not worried about being able to play with it once fitted but i'd like two maps so it can get driven normally and be a bit less crazy, plus full power with anti lag etc.
    Standard flywheel and which clutch?

This is going to take a while to go together, there is nothing wrong with the power I have now 414 bhp and 607nm I just want something to do! ha ha

I don't feel the need to do mega power as it will just become totally undriveable, already owned a 600+ bhp car and it was more than enough.

It all depends on what the engine and car will be used for. Is it everyday or drag? Track or street racing?

When you reach the 6++ figures on the 2.2 you are entering lag city, no matter how well you adjust everything or get specific cams and timing for it. SO if you aim for a larger rev range to use the power then a 2.5 solution is the only way.

6++ from a 2.2 at best you may have a full boost on 3d above 4500rpm to end at possibly 7500 to 8000 depending on the headwork and valve setup.

Then again if you want it for drag racing you may not care about the lag anyway. So that's the first thing to consider.

Standalone ecu for sure, rods/pistons of course, choice of turbo afterwards, large intercooler and oil cooler, large exhaust catless. For hydraulic lifters easiest choice would be 7A cams

It's not everyday but will be used for longer drives from time to time and fun in between. Having owned something very powerfull before i'm aware of the fuel usage etc.

Can you 2.5 the standard block?
      why the 7a cams?

can 600+ be achieved from the standard inlet and wagner intercooler?

I doubt the Wagner Evo cooler is man enough for a reliable 600hp unless you supplement the charge cooling with WMI. I think the stock intake will do it but then you need to think about the intake piping, throttle body etc. You’ll need at least a 3.5” downpipe, probably a bigger wastegate, all in that busy corner of the engine bay. You are looking at a £10k+ build so you might as well build it right first time. If it was me I’d go dry sump too.
Bosch 044 won’t do it you will need a proper fuel delivery setup. Take a look at some of the projects on here to get some ideas.

You can do 2.5 with a standard block. You need 144mm rods and different pistons. However, rev limiter stays at 7000rpm for safety if not less, and that makes the car unusable for large turbos as what's the point in using an engine for only 2000rpm of meaningful use.

Something to do. Already running 414 and fancied building something with more. A 10k build is a bit steep so may have to curb my target but it's all for fun.

Have you got any links? I had a quick look but couldn't find any.

A such build done right is around 20k not 10k.

But can be done with less if done as budget ghetto style. I had an ghetto/scrap 600+hp engine for few seasons in use. No any big issues.

Stock pistons, H-beam rods, stock head, 7A cams, AAN intake mani, dual 044 fuel pumps, Mallory FPR, 450x300x76mm china IC, Tial MVR wg(propably stock will do), 1700cc injectors, HX40 super turbo, DIY 4" DP and 3,5" exhaust, DIY tubular ex-manifold.

Yes and of course work is free and so on for manifold and exhaust...
You also didn't meantion clutch, drivetrain upgrades, brakes and so on. I mean if the only goal is to kill yourself, then who cares right.

ha ha, definately not the intention. brakes are done, better suspension is on the list, already upgraded but not KW V3's It's all for fun. I've almost reached the end of doing stuff on the car, its painted, recaro seats, fixed most of the issues etc so I need the next chapter of the project otherwise i'llhave to sell it and buy something else to tinker with so a fresh engine build seemed like the next bit and something i can take my time on.

Hmm, I see little hostility in Dmitris messages these days.. Maybe because this isn't a hobby for him anymore?

Forgot about the clutch, basic SRE with sinter disc will do and proper single mass flywheel(maybe these already are in use in the 400hp setup?) For 1/4 mile dragrace the rear driveshafts are weak, but they will be fine on trackdays. On dragrace stock brakes could be ok, but on track not. Everything depends on what you will do with the car.
