Forgot about the clutch, basic SRE with sinter disc will do and proper single mass flywheel(maybe these already are in use in the 400hp setup?) For 1/4 mile dragrace the rear driveshafts are weak, but they will be fine on trackdays. On dragrace stock brakes could be ok, but on track not. Everything depends on what you will do with the car.
Not hostility but this stuff makes me shake my head, also because I have some experience with subject matter and how much it costs in the end
I have a 2.2T 200V for full restoration and build in the shop, and even the suspension had to be custom made in Germany by KW. But then again it is the complete opposite of a ghetto project.

          2.5L forged stroker, balanced
EFR 7163 is a 60#/min turbo, an EFR 8374 is good for 79#/min.
Standalone, solid base map that gets dialed in on a dyno (on pump fuel).

Either of the above turbos should be good for a very broad power band, 4000 rpm or more of big power/boost range.

Spend your initial funds on the internal stuff that's more difficult to access down the road. The rest you can bolt on as things wear out or can't keep pace.

Some idea of prices, at least what we have here and can get... rougly. Just for engine and can be missing something...

            Forged pistons ~800e
            Forged rods ~400e
            Rod sputter bearings ~100e
            Main bearings ~30e
            Head gasket set ~160e
            Block gasket set ~50e
            Turbo ~1000e
            Turbo oil/cooling hoses ~150e
            Exhaust manifold ~500e
            7A cams ~300e
            New INA lifters ~80e
            Stiffer valve spring kit ~250e
            Timing belt kit ~ 50e
            Water pump ~ 50e
            Cam chain ~ 15e
            Stand alone ECU ~1200e
            Exhaust ~1000e
            Clutch and flywheel ~1200e
            Coil packs ~200e
            Coil harness ~200e
            Spark plugs ~60e
Some other small things like sensors, gauges, connectors, bungs etc.. ~500e

Machining prices (these can vary quite heavily on where they are done)

            Cylinder boring ~260e
            Block skimming ~50e
            Head skimming ~50e
            Valve guide job ~300e
            Crank balancing ~350e
            Head porting ~500e

And of course you will lost a huge amount of money if the engine is assembled by some machine shop. About the parts, the more you buy at ones the bigger discount you can get. Also used parts can be good in some cases, like flywheel, manifold, turbo, ecu... Also many parts can be found cheaper if you have time to search and buy from other places.

What sort of figures does this give for torque and power?

Here's one guy's build... shows you can make good power without building a stroker:

Good stuff, I like the look of the FCP engineering stuff. Looks like i'm leaning towards the stroker route, but not fully sorted yet
