So why this is OEM solution on turbo engines? I dont really want to drill hole to the oil pan Or made it as Thuppu posted picture...but thats on other side of the oil pan.

That area is for the turbo oil return not a catch tank return.
Besides we are making a huge amount of more power and run much more boost and all that creates more needs and stress to the engine.

On TDI I only know that the green marked hole is the flange to fit the oil Level dipstick.....

A80Avant : i am talking about oil turbo return (that green area) not a catch tank return. So maybe we dont understand each other That hose into oil drain plug is for return for catch tank. So that green area is not enough for oil turbo return?

michaels2s: On that AAT (TDI) block is oil dipstick on the other side (as a water manifold)

Yes Tom, I was referring to a catch tank return.

I'll be using the s2/rs2 return to the sump for the turbo so that return may be just blocked. I'll check if its worthwhile using it as a catch tank return

Good article about 2618 vs 4032 piston alloy differences:

                  Tom,
reading your original post, I would recommend to set it as follows 4032 at 0.08mm - 0.06mm depends on EGT

hmm ... it was probably to late

4032 can be set to lower gap with 0,08 - 0,06mm
2032 needs more room to breath. 0,1mm is just about alright.

This is for the guidenance only, it always depends on EGT

lower piston to bore gap > lower oil consumption. Nothing new in this regards

My point was what is the lowest I can get to for a boost application of up to 2bar and 550hp while at the same time not risking for the pistons to get stuck due to expansion. Manuals are a bit vague!

                          I wouldn't go under 0,07mm.

Vas as it's a road car, why not fit liners and use original pistons?

It's a stroker with 95.5 crank so I cant use original pistons. ( I would on a heartbeat if I could!)

I have those manuals. However given that we are on the 1st line of bore clearance and 0.020 is 0.05mm as a starting point and minimum, hence the debate. I was going to roll the dice and say 0.065mm being the middle of measurements
