    Engine stalls

    I was out today and when I was on my way home the car just died. Stayed at the side of the road and the car started right away. I pull the codes and i got these;

    3 Faults Found: 01262 - Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75) 31-00 - Open or Short to Ground 00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation 11-10 - Control Limit Not Reached - Intermittent 00524 - Knock Sensor 1 (G61) 03-10 - No Signal - Intermittent Readiness: N/A

There is no N75 valve on this car - just going with the spring and MBC.

Probably an air leak in the inlet or corrosion on the MAF connector pins

No air leak - tested it at least 10 times. Changed all hoses and the pcv. The MAF is brand new and the connector is also cleaned. This doesnt happens every time i drive.. its just random

I know you have 3 fault codes but I'm not sure any of these would cause the car to just stop, more run badly? I had similar on my cq20v a few years back; it was random, always restarted after a variable length of time and there was no pattern in when the fault would occur. It was the earth wire for the aftermarket immobilizer. It had come loose and was free to move around, there was enough continuity to make the car run most of the time but a bump or turn in the wrong direction and it would break the circuit. Tighten nut, never done it since.

I don't know if you have any security device or not but i would be checking earth straps / connectors for tightness or corrosion. Old plastic connectors can crumble over time especially if they are in a hot zone and if they break down enough it can release the connection pin inside.

With my fault; I was surprised how little contact was needed to make things work!

I don’t have any aftermarket immobilizer or any other kind. This fault is totally random. One time the car runs great and the other time this fault happens. The only think I do know is that this only happens when the car is warm and when the boost is beginning to build. I have a log from vagcom but I can’t see anything that would
make this happen. Can it be because of overboost? Or because the injectors are to small?

Ok well, first thing I’d do is clear the codes, drive the car and see if they come back.

The MAF connector can have invisible corrosion on the inner surfaces of the female pins. The only way to clean this is to remove the pins from the housing and clean with fine abrasive paper, this is well documented. Apologies if you’ve already done this but most people say they’ve cleaned the connector when actually they’ve just sprayed the contacts with some kind of ineffective liquid like WD40.

The other possibility is that the ISV is sticking. You can wash this out with gt85.

A while ago gold female contacts were available to fit into the maf plug. Rule out corrosion once and for and get some of these if they are still available?

I dig delete the codes and everything is ok for awhile then it just came back from nowhere and mess it up. To be honest I didn’t didn’t remove the pins from the housing when I clean the MAF connector. I’ll try that one to. Can the ISV cause these problems to?

If the ISV gets sticky it can cause stalling for sure. Don’t see why it would throw those codes though.
Did the knock sensor code come back too?
If so I’d be looking at the sensors, make sure they’re not cracked, wiring is ok, connectors clean and tight, torqued correctly.

Yes, knock sensor get back to. But this isn’t because the car is running to lean right?

You get a knock sensor code when there’s a bad connection to the knock sensor. Nothing to do with running lean.

I recently had some issues with engine stalling.
Got the error : 00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation 11-10 - Control Limit Not Reached - Intermittent

The stalling went away after unplug/replug MAF connector.

Error404 "ultraperformance engineering " have the right gold plated connetors for the MAF/TPS. Just got my terminals, i have the same issue. Unplugging/plugging in the MAF solves the problem for a while. But now i will cahange the terminals.
