        Key is cracked! A previous owner has not had the correct tool for doing the timing belt but looking at the belt, it doesn't look like it has been done!

          It's been sat for a few years,make no mistake I'd be doing the belt regardless,it just shows that out of sight is not necessarily out of mind though...I've also had the misfortune in the past to buy an engine with a new belt,tensioner and water pump only to find out the hard way that the sprocket had been re used which resulted in 10 bent valves.

            How the hell did that washer get between the belt and sprocket and not snap the belt?

              I'm guessing it got down there when the engine was removed,just goes to show how a stray washer or bolt could cause a failure even on an otherwise fresh build
