Is running wastegate pressure going to blow my engine up?

Let's say hypothetically I had a 1996 URS6 with all the usual RS2 bits (K26 but in essence the same deal) with a boost cut/limp mode issue I just can't get to the bottom of, and I'd just taken the vacuum line off the wastegate as a get around for now.

The trip computer shows it hits 1.8bar (very occasionally 1.9/2 on very cold days) on wastegate pressure.

Am I going to be introduced to my rods doing this?

With it connected and it not tripping into limp it'll hit 1.7/1.8 anyway so little/no difference..?

When it goes into limp it will not get over 1.2/1.3.

The trip computer isn't particularly accurate.

Do you have another boost gauge?

Does "all the usual RS2 bits" include an RS2-spec tuned ECU?

Yep injectors, pump, turbo, manifold, ecu

And I dont have another gauge... What's considered safe before pistons start making an exit?

Have you done a proper boost leak test?
No leaks in vac pipes to ECU and fpr?
Checked the DV diaphragm is not leaking?

UrS dash gauge reads absolute so 1.9 is only 0.9 Bar of boost.

Is 0.9 "safe" on stock internals?

literally the only thing I changed between it working perfectly, and it going into limp is the rocker cover (to 7a and the associated breather) and swapped to TFSI coils.

I've since been over every hose and clip in the engine bay to no avail, driving me mental.

You need to pressurise the entire inlet tract with an airline. Make a plug to block the MAF hose with a tyre valve in it, pump it up to 1 Bar and see how long it takes to drop.
Best to disconnect the PCV breather hose from the Maf hose and plug that while you’re doing it. Check the DV separately by disconnecting the vac line at the IM and blocking the nipple. No air should come from the DV vac line.

apart from the usual boost leaks which are extremely common (checked intercoolers?) two things spring to mind . I’ve had boost cut and it is awful makes you not want to drive it- what chipset are you running? By chance does the Rev counter flicker back to zero when boost cut occurs?
the other is knock sensors which may be stopping it go above 1.3 bar and will not give fault codes....
