    WOT Issue & Fault Codes

I currently have an issue where the car is loosing power under hard acceleration or wide open throttle. It tends to be in the early gears i.e. 1st and 2nd when trying to launch the car.

If the progression of the throttle is fairly steady then boost and reasonable acceleration will be achieved. Last week I changed the coil packs to see if this would remedy the issue as they have been on the car for a few years but this has made no difference. All boost pipes seem tight and there don't appear to be any air leaks.

This evening I pulled the codes and got the following which I can't find the answers to all of them.

65535 The ECU is modified with TSW Tuning Chips so I have discounted this one.
    65282 ?
    00002 ?
    00255 ?

The engine is RS2 code ADU.

    Suggestions welcome.

65535 is a problem with a control module , probably the dodgy TS chipset

The other numbers are not in the Rosstech Wiki. Maybe adaptation codes or something?

If you’ve filled with some dodgy petrol the ECU might be pulling timing and reducing boost? (I’ve had some shocking pinging on TS chips..)

Did you actually do a pressure test?

        Hey Mike,

Good to hear from you. No I didn't as I've been working pretty much flat out. That said I'm now off for two weeks so wouldn't mind you popping over with your smoke machine or I could come to you?

I checked all the usual websites and read about the error code if you change the chips. For the moment I've cleared the codes and will do another shakedown test over the weekend.

I always fill up with Super Unleaded from Sainsburys so you would hope that it's good stuff. One thing that I have been thinking about is the fuel tank as periodically I get rust in the pre pump fuel filter. Second to that the BOSCH 044 fuel pump when running is up and down in terms of noise which makes me think it is struggling to get fuel out of the tank. I believe there is some type of gauze in there? The question is, how to remove the blockage if there is one?

Not done the pressure test, although I am planning to replace all of the vacuum hoses as they've been on there forever. I did put a boost gauge on a while back and I'm sure it was over boosting. So maybe two faults, those being fuel supply and boost leak. Hope it's not the chips as I've buried the ECU at the back of the centre console!

Hi steve I’ll pop round this Sunday if your free for few hours and get the smoke machine on and see if there’s a boost leak and get it sorted

Well a good afternoon thanks to Mike and his smoke machine. We found a pipe coming off the back of the inlet manifold that wasn’t attached.

The pipe it attaches to is the one (I think) with the water trap in which goes direct the the ECU. A test drive later today will determine if it has made an improvement although I’ve still go the petrol tank to look at.
