I didn't really get any change when switching to the larger one. It was only a 0.1-0.2 change but not sure if it was the oil change or the filter that had something to do with the increase?

It does fit in there fine but it is quite a bit larger than the stock filter. It took about 4.7-4.8L instead of the usual 4.5L to fill.

Alright, parts should be here on Friday so I plan on tackling it this weekend. I will keep you posted on how things turn out.

    Thanks again

I don't have the new one in my hand yet to check. I want to locate a couple of wrench options before this weekend.

I've always used a stubby open end spanner, they're not tight as a rule so as soon as you've uncracked it you'll find it should be hand tight.

Or even a slim adjustable should be able to get in there, once loosened it will unscrew very easily.

I bent an old open ended spanner. I will get a pic for you.

Would an O2 socket fit? Not sure of the outer diameter, but O2 sockets often have a hex on the back end to get a spanner on.

I think I managed to get on there with a short socket, a breaker bar and only putting the socket on half way -there is just room for this from above.

You can unclip and push the hydraulic hoses out the way a bit, gives you some more room.

Appreciate the info Tractor Dave, Simmonds and Steve B, any tips on getting the F22 sensor out? I know they had a trick socket back in the day but don't think I can get my hands on one of those. I didn't even mess with that one yet since I just took the F1 out to run the mechanical gauge. Not sure if there is enough room to get an open-ended wrench behind it to loosen.

New parts should be here by Friday so hopefully I can play around this weekend and get it back together.

    Thanks in advance

Fresh oil always produces more pressure on my engine when it's hot, i beleive that is due to the old oil degrading over time and being less able to do its job. The degradation will be due to carbon deposits held in suspension and film sheer strength reduction. Ive previously seen in the region of 0.3 to 0.4bar (on the gauge) improvement with a like for like oil service.

I wouldn't read to much into the coincidental result of more pressure with the new 10w/40 compared to the old 5w/40 but the good news is that 1.1bar on a mechanical
gauge plus the 0.2bar the in car gauge adds = 1.3bar and thats not low enough to be a concern.

A 10w/50 might add a little more hot pressure as the 50 grade resists thinning due to heat more than the 40 grade but to be honest, as others have said; swap the sensor and enjoy!
