Or even a slim adjustable should be able to get in there, once loosened it will unscrew very easily.

I've always used a stubby open end spanner, they're not tight as a rule so as soon as you've uncracked it you'll find it should be hand tight.

Is that a 19mm or 21mm open ended spanner?

I don't have the new one in my hand yet to check. I want to locate a couple of wrench options before this weekend.

          Thanks

Second that, I'm almost certain the F22 on S2's and RS2's are 17mm.

Alright, parts should be here on Friday so I plan on tackling it this weekend. I will keep you posted on how things turn out.

                  Thanks again

That's interesting. What is the 'bigger oil filter'?

I didn't really get any change when switching to the larger one. It was only a 0.1-0.2 change but not sure if it was the oil change or the filter that had something to do with the increase?

It does fit in there fine but it is quite a bit larger than the stock filter. It took about 4.7-4.8L instead of the usual 4.5L to fill.

Think it helps keep the oil a little cooler too, I'll check when I get home what part number is

The MANN part number for what I used is W940/25 which is a little different than the picture above.

The one you posted might be a little longer but very similar.

That’s interesting, the one Rikki has posted a pic of looks like the one for a T4 Transporter, in fact I’m almost certain it is, I still have one at home left over from my old work van, would have to check the part number to be sure though. If it’s the right one I’ll give it a whirl on my RS2 next time I drop the oil out, the extra surface area inside should in theory help keep the oil clean for longer and the extra exterior surface area aid cooling.
