Anyone know of any mobile / nonmobile decent auto electricians to fix nonstarting s2?

    Hey guys!!
Been awhile, Ive come back into cash again and can afford to get the s2 back on the road. I have spoke to my tuner and he says its not the spark plugs and not the fuel pump.

The engine just turns over on ignition and fails to start. I was also told it cant be the relay. reckons its power from ignition to HT coils circuit.
Does anyone know of a decent auto electrician around this area to either come out or I get the car transported (costly - rather not) to them.

I live in Stevenage - Hertfordshire.

I am being optimistic and wanna try and get it ready for this weekend.

    Can anyone help?

You don't need an auto electrician, you need a decent mechanic who knows these cars.
Have you got access to VCDS?
I would help but I'm in West Wales.

Look at the non start thread and just go through each point systematically.... as above, don't think you need an auto electrician, just someone who is a good mechanic and prepared to look at it properly!

Hey there, Well this is all I have buddy. I am completely stuck and I dont have much time to put into this right now. Its prob an easy fix, if you know how. I don't. what is VCDS? schematics?? Ive used the aftermarket ecu software with the tuner if you are referring to that. the tuner told me lots of info, which is above.

That's where I am. I'd be willing to pay a forum member if they knew how to fix it to sort it. I could devote some time, but it would take me a long time to learn and figure out.

Vcds is the diagnostic tool but not sure if will be much use is you have an aftermarket ecu.

If you have fuel but no spark it might be the cam position sensor. Have you tested that?

If I lived closer I would take a look at for you and electrics aren't really my thing even though it's running an Emerald ECU I believe?

Are you you sure doesn't have a spark,? Will it fire on easy start? If does then it's no fuel. If it doesn't then it's no spark, you simply have to work through it logically.

It would really help if you could pull fault codes even if not through VCDS.

As Dave say the cam position sensor would be one of the first things I'd check if you have no spark

Ok so i have been on phone to emerald ecus and in touch with my electrician dude on whatsapp. gonna test the circuit tonight. along with cable from ecu to crank sensor, as it is required to be a shielded cable running from cranks sensor to the ecu. will check for the fault codes as have been instructed now on how to do it. wish me luck! ahhh

Test the cam position sensor by wiring an led in the circuit. Instructions here under reasons your car won't start and look for the post by urs4boy.

Bingo guys!! Thank you for helping push me! kicking myself, but also releaved its an easy fix! She lives again!!! been off road for ages!! doh!!!

All that stood between me and s2 fun was a 20 amp fuse.... in a hidden location. had friend who is electrician talk me through testing the coil relay that was plumbed in aftermarket. when one line wasnt working I traced the cables back and noticed a hidden fuse holder. bingo! a blown 20amp fuse. super chuffed now!! lets see what these new fuel prices are all about !? super freaking happy now!!
