There is what is reffered to as 'Home Fried' chip sets knocking about, they're for the stock K24 7000 and don't require any extra parts other than an engine in good order. They will take an ABY upto 270-280 bhp and they retain the safety features of the stock set up, they were written by a guy named Paul Nugent, he's one of the chaps who started this site but I haven't seen him on here for years. It may only be 50 odd bhp more than stock but is quite a step up from the stock output and nothing like as expensive as going down the full RS2 spec route, you'll need an ECU that's socketed so you can change chips so it's worth looking out for one of these for sale.

If the 280 BHP maps aren't fast enough for you then you'll need to get a 3 bar map sensor fitted to the ECU, if your fairly competent with a soldering iron and working on PCB's one can change this yourself. Then you'll need all the other parts make your car RS2 spec, this use to be a fairly cheap way of getting quite serious power back when I joined the forum, however things have changed and there's no longer used RS2 turbos available for under £500 and manifolds for £250 in the for sale section as there was back then. I got a reconditioned RS2 turbo from German eBay for £480 inculding delivery, not much chance of getting one for that price now.
So you cant change a chip in standard S2 ECU?

If the ECU is socketed, about 2 or 3. the only slighty hard part is opening the ECU boards, you need two thin screw drivers to release the catches each side of the plug... The did use to be a couple of excellent guides on here.

The chip ports need to be socketed to make it straight forward, some came from the factory with sockets others didn't, I can't recall which models got which now. Though I think all 3B ones are socketed, only way to find out is to open it and have a look.

Hence why I said it's worth looking out for an ECU that's ready to go.

I can burn you some PRJ chips for the following spec:
                                440cc inj
                                4bar map sensor
                                RS2 turbo (1.85bar)
                                0.78 lambda topend
                                With HFM

I can make the above without MAF too using PRJ

Without MAF requires ECU work as per PRJ site and you get some nice features like
I've adjusted the dwell for tfsi coils and adjusted the launch control for more aggressive take off
