Bottom end is pretty much the same. What parts do you need to use?

It's probably a bit late as I've been away on holiday but I've got a 3B bottom end. not sure of the differences between ABY & 3B bottoms? All I know is I'm after an AAN but thats another story! If its worth your while sticking to 3B then I don't mind doing a swap (3B for ABY?)
Either way hope you get back on the road soon

I just followed what advise I could find on hear, took the bumper IC ,and cross member of,took the throttle boddy , and cam cover of, dissconected the injecter rail and fuel lines, battery dissconnected of corse, dissconnected exshaust at the far end of the flecksey pipe, the four 15mm nuts to the manifold ,the one underneath was a bitch, could'ent get to it, I beleave there is a special bent ring spanner for this job, I had to take the wastgate of to get at it ,and tapped it round with a chisel, it took a while, the hole job was about 6 hrs. pulled of all the wires and hoses I could see connected to the head, undone all the head bolts in order, and lifted the head of with both manifolds and disstributor intact, tapped it first with a mallet, its very heavy mind and you must be careful if the cams are still in, because some of the valves are open and can eassely be damaged.
I was hoping to replace the gasket and bolt straight back together after having the head checked found a local place to do it , but you know what happend, and I am now waiting for another bottom end to arrive so I can deside what to do next.

Yes, my replacement engine arrived today, thanks to Allaudi, must say at the moment I am well chuffed, bores seem to have very little or no wear, and it turns over by hand beau'tifully. The problem is, it comes out of an s6,and I can see one problem straight away. The main front pulley is differant, its for groved belts ,unlike the 3b which has v belts. do I change the front pulley for my 3b one or is it possible to change the pulleys on the alternater and aircon, and keep the s6 pulley, which is a little larger.the same with the flywheel, is it the same, and will it take the new clutch I have on my 3b,or do I change the flywheel.
I would very much appreciate any help you good people can offer, because I don't realey know the best way to go from hear.

                    MANY THANKS LOU

Yes Lou, you can ditch that dual mass flywheel and use your 3b one, same with the front pulley i think, swap them over.

Things are looking up, today I borrowed a engine hoist, and a few other bits, so I can take the old engine out,and swap the bits over, biggest problem might be taking the bottom pulley of the new engine, might get the wife to sit on it while I undo the crank bolt, the engine that is.
I have a crank locking tool so the one in the car won't be so bad. can't wait to turn the key, wish me luck

An air gun should get the AAN pulley off.
