Just got to say at this point, Lou! I really do admire your perseverance.
Don't know how many times I've read newbies who have a few problems, boost leaks etc, can't find the problems, then sell the car.
Hats off to you.. People should be directed to your threads when they think their car is behaving badly.

Things are not going very well, started to swap the bits over from 3b, got the crank bolt undone on the 3b using the crank locking tool, and a lot of anger, but the one on the aan won't budge ,tried every thing ,air socket the lot, the problem is that I can't lock the locking tool on to the block, so I gess I have the wrong locking tool, has anyone ever had this problem and solved it if so let me know.By the way martinjs, my daughter lives in wellington, anywhear near you.

You can lock the crank at the flywheel end. I've used a long bar across the flywheel bolts to lock the crank before. The front pulley came off easy then. Make sure the bolts are threaded in enough though.

Lou, I have a horrible feeling that the tool for the 3B doesn't locate too well on the AAN pulley. If you can get an adequate fit, I would suggest fitting the snub mount of the 3B onto the AAN block. You should then be able to lock off the pulley. You should then be able to undo it relatively safely!

                        MANY THANKS LOU

                          Hi Lou,
by play, do you mean sideways play, or in/out play?
Its sideways play you need to worry about, they all move in/out a little...

Mostly in and out, but I can detect a very small amount of play side to side, but its only just detect'able.

Just thinking,do I have to change the sump, for any reason ,if so is it worth changing the bearings for rs2 ones, or would you leave well alone,as I said earlier the bores look in fantastic condition. so I leaving that side alone. Is there anything else I should do while the engine is out. Cheers Lou
