Better intercooler, exhaust and then remove weight.

If you run a non modify S2 then the CTR as a better hp/tone ratio.
If you got a remap one then it's very tight.
plus CTR zero lag so you could kil it on a 1/4 mile with the torque and 4X4 but on a track your dead.

I think a remapped S2 will walk away from a CTR all day every day. The 0-60 time for a mapped S2 will be a good second quicker and the 0-100 time is handfull of seconds quicker...

              Torque is king.

If you have not got your S2 remapped, you don't know what you are missing.

              Cheers,

                I disagree,
Unless your launching from a standstill at 6000rpm (and how many times are you in that scenario on the road) then the two will be very close on the move.
The reason the S2 gets good 0-60 and 100 times is the 4wd launch, once on the move the 4wd and weight will work against the S2.
Simple fact is that even a remapped S2 is not that fast a car nowadays and a well driven CTR will give you a hard time.
Mine still feels a bit slow compared to my Missus remapped Fiat Coupe 20vt and i know mine is a healthy S2.
To make these things what i would call quick i reckon you need at least 400 brake...then again when youve had 280 brake in a Mk2 Golf, and youve driven a 270bhp 1.8t Series 1 Elise which weighs 750kg everything seems slow....

                Pete.

                    Pauls homefries are great.
MRC are also spoken in high regard on here - i guess there isnt alot in it between the generic remap.
If you know your car is in fine fettle and everything is working as it should then i dont see why Pauls homefry wouldnt be a good choice.
The fact that you have to go to MRC for their remap means they can look over the car for you to make sure everything is in good order prior to remapping the car - i guess it just depends on how clued up you are with your cars health as to what would be the better choice for you.
MRC could also do a custom map for your car if you wanted a little more and could afford the extra.
Guess it also comes down to cash at the end of the day - 250 quid for a homefry is hard to beat.

                      Fat Audi 80

some years ago when I had a Subaru 280 Hp we did some test with a friend with Clio RS with about 200 hp.

Standstill start I was killing him but after on his request we did some start at 60km/H to 120km/h of throtle and we could choose what ever gear we prefer.

it was impossible for me to finish more than one wheel a head of him.

every time in the first second he was going a head and then as soon as my car spool up I came back to him.

A impreza as very litle lag and is very ligth (1240Kg). if I had to do this kind of run with my RS2 against the clio i'm really not sure I would finish a head.

Dan, go to Banbury, get MRC to re-map your car, you won't regret it. Mihnea there knows his stuff more than most.

The difference a "stage 1" remap makes to the stock S2 is dramatic - bang for buck its an incredible improvement taking you up into the 270bhp-ish arena and stacks more torque. If you want to make the remap better, get a decent exhaust from someone like Longlife first, and then do the remap.

After that you're into serious expenditure with upgraded hardware down the "RS2-type" route to get into the >350bhps and 500nm of torque, but you're then talking new intercooler, new turbo, new exhaust manifold, new injectors and new exhaust.

In the words of the famous sports shoe company "just do it".
