I have a mate who wants to get his K24 turbo rebuilt (1993 ABY) and he wants to know if the URquattro's RR turbo is the same? I know the RR engine is very similar to the 3B engine, but FA shows a slight difference of part number for the RR turbo.
3B/ABY = 034 145 702,
RR = 034 145 703 A.
Would an RR turbo be ok to use for a rebuild then swap onto his ABY?
TIA

I think I know. They maybe have different cold side orientation due to different intercooler hoses route in the ur body. This can be easily adjusted by carefully taking cold side off, rotating, and tightening bolts back. I don't recommend loosen the bolts then rotating cold side while it is on the manifold. I have personally seen cut cold side seal after such operation (on K26). Maybe it happened because substantial force was needed to turn the cold side, and something went wrong so guy had tiny, but boost leak, which was fixed after one drop of some gasket sealant (non silicone!).
