hello I got what looks to be a 7a head today, has anyone here tried this on a turbo engine, just standard??? just wondering?? what could one get?? would it work good at all??
i will try and take a pic tomorrow so you can see.
iirc it fits straight on but you need to machine a hole for the watter manifold and possibly a Hall Sensor.
The 7a head should be in a loot better condition that a turbo one with the same millage.
Im looking to do this very soon too so will keep an eye on your thread.
I'm doing the same. My 7A head is currently at MRC being overhauled and modified to fit my AAN engine. Which reminds me I need to check with Doug to see how that's going!! As Bo said, the head needs the 3 extra holes machining out for the water manifold (7A only has 1 water entrance hole) and if you're converting to ABY/AAN spec then a bracket needs to be made to fit the hall sender. If you're fitting to a 3B engine then this is not required! You can run 7A cams too but you really need to have the car re-mapped to suit. You can fit the standard S2 cams in the 7A head although most people would at least use the 7A exhaust cam as it's a little more aggressive!!
'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.
