In a word, no. You'll effectively be by-passing the main coolilng circuit if you do this, which will kill your car faster than death by lethal injection. What you need to do is bung the pipes...
Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...
mannnn,
I thought it was such a good idea too....
so I just plug off the top opening or the bottom to make use of the radiator...
cuz before I had it just plumbed to the top and thought the coolant would just flow through the endtank without going to the radiator, so I t'd off that to the bottom..
so i'm assuming I need to plug off the top right?
The 2 ends that used to go to the aux. rad., cut them shorter (one from the top of the rad. pointing ta front of car, t'other smaller bore from the bottom rad. hose)and plug BOTH ENDS with copper pipe ends stops and jubilee clips from yer local diy shop. Job done!
Carlos.
