I will be running pauter rods in my motor. Although they dont have a fancy website with fancy clames like other rods manufactures. They do work very well on high boost 40+ psi @10,000 rpm. These are on motors making 900whp out of a 4 cylinder. They may weigh a bit more, but I dont think that is a problem if hondas can make great power with them with no problems reving to 10k+.
Here's a quote from a crew cheif of a hotrod class car:
"5:51 PM 2/10/2004) olsonjus: What connecting rods do you prefer for a street/strip car? I'm looking for 150whp per cylinder.
Thanks,
Justin
(2:15 AM 2/11/2004) tony1: pauter, no doubt
(8:04 PM 2/11/2004) olsonjus: Is that what you used in the the hotrod class car?
(11:09 PM 2/11/2004) tony1: yup, still is
(11:12 PM 2/11/2004) olsonjus: Nice, thanks for the info. I always thought pauters were good, but http://www.theoldone.com doesn't think so much of them. If they work for a car 800+whp car like yours, I have plenty of faith.
Thanks,
Justin
(11:13 PM 2/11/2004) tony1: i've broken just about every other brand of rod, but never pauter!"
I was quoted $850.00 USD about 6 months ago. So I don't know if the price has changed. Rifle drilling is available, but I don't remember how much is was. They may have some in stock. They are the same rods as the VW GTI (2.0 I think).

You want rods that are 5.67" or 144mm long if you have a AAN or 3b or rs2 motor. AAT/eurovan 5.91" or 150mm rods. and the MC motors use 5.35" or 136mm rods.
Pricing is $185 each plus $50 for rifle drilled rods.
I can give you guys a little better deal at..
$1075+ shipping for a set of 5 with rifling drilling. This is the audi nice guy price.
Justin, I was thinking to go with Pauter anyway, so I can take this route as well.
I'll need a custom conrod as well as pistons, thoug.
My ones will need to be 155.9mm center to center with same big end dimensions as OEM. Will have a 22mm pin so small end will need to be sized accordingly.
Pauter also told me they don't think rifle drilling will be any better while making the conrod slightly weaker, while they suggested a 3 hole oil pickup on small end to hel pin lubrication.
I already had a quote dyrectly from Pauter of 900$ the set, so if you might stay whitin this or even better this quotation there is no reason why I shouldn't go this way.
For everyones info - I got this from Brian Pauter tonight:
Mr Bennett,
Thank you for your interest in our rods. We have Audi 2.2L 5-cyl rods in process at this time and they are about 3 weeks away from completion. Bolts are included. Our rods are made to use factory bearings unless you specify otherwise. Direct pin-oiling is an option available for $45.00 per rod but it probably not necessary. Retail price is US$900.00 for a set of 5. Shipping to the UK (without knowing what city you are in) by UPS Express would add $107.00.
Brian
I'm hopefully getting these through Justin - but I think I will get the rifle drilling as well - just to be sure I don't wear pins. Someone on one of the yahoo list had worn pins - I can't remember what rods or pins they used though.

Doug, it was message #1481 on Kruemmer, but this was a bit different as he was using these on a stroker, if indeed that does make a difference?
I've never heard/read of this happening before other than on this occasion, another thing to remember is that rifle drilling may weaken the rod too. Also piston choice may also have a bearing (no pun intended ) upon pin wear, ie. pistons with the forced pin oiling option?
