    Dump Valve story

Today I got a new forge diverter valve (part number: FMDV006C)

    I started fitting it, only to find that according to the first post in this thread;
my original bosch valve was fitted the wrong way around. I then fitted my new dump valve in the way posted at the beginning of the above mentioned thread to my car:

I took my car out for a test drive and there was absolutely no noise from the valve, even less than the original Bosch one. I'm not bothered by this, but I just want to check that I have fitted it correctly, as in a couple of different threads there are different ways of fitting them and I'm a little confused! The way in which it is fitted just now won't cause any damage, I'm guessing anyway, but if anyone could shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Looks fine to me, you may want to experiment with it though since dependant on the boost the DV may creep open if the pressure and spring keeping it shut arent strong enough

Alright mate, that's my mind put to rest, cheers. I have a boost gauge and I was getting full boost just fine when I took it out for a quick blat. If it was put in the other way around, would it be noisier, as the standard valve was louder than this one.

        I put a Forge '007P' on the A3 and it's a lot quieter than the Bosch '710N'.

Yeah, i think that it is the same with me, especially if the Bosch was fitted differently to the way in which this one is.

Mark from Forge fitted one a 007p on to my son`s MK4 Golf and he put it on upside down and it made more noise
So it could be worth a try

Yeah, standard airbox, completely standard engine. Nice and quiet, unlike the wailing I5 out the back!

I thought it'd be pretty quiet with a standard valve and airbox fitted anyway , you only tend to get some noise from them in standrd setup when they're on they're way out , is that why you got the forge ?

I got it after I read the big poll 'Which diverter valve are you running?'. The popular opinion seemed to say that the Forge was just fine with a standard setup, so I just went ahead and got it. I've only had the car about a month or two, so if nothing else, it is one thing that I don't have to worry about failing in the near future! And if the original was on it's way out, then it's an added bonus!

I too have had my car for only a month or two, and I too had my Forge 006 dump valve arrive this afternoon.

However, I was fairly sure my old standard unit was on the way out. Car was surging on part throttle and had an inconsistent idle. Searching here had me cleaning the idle control valve, and I knew the lambda sensor had just been replaced by the previous owner, so the diverter valve seemed an obvious culprit.

Anyway, to stop a long ramble short - I just fitted it and it's not only solved my car's foibles, but I swear it goes better too - turbo spools up quicker and with a bigger thrust.

Great bang for buck and will never need replacing again.

                        Nick

(BTW - service from Forge direct was very quick - highly recommended)
