hi guys just out of intrest how often do u carry out a oil change

i have been changing oil and filter every 3 months just cus a genuine filter is only 2.50 and oil is free and now i have had it a year i will do another full service and get the book stamped for the history

I do mine every 5000 miles. In fact im gonna be doing an oil change this weekend going over to the recommended 10W-50 Silkolene pros S from my usual millers 10W-60.

have been totally happy with millers, but thought the 50 weight oil may gain me a few extra bhp at the next rolling road and improve engine response

how do you get a genuine filter for £2.50 i pay £5 + vat for mine at local VAG dealer and thought that was a bargain

I am tech at a vw dealer and it is the same filter for lots of VWs and get it at cost price all in including vat is £2.51

And oil i use is mobil oil

That's spot on. Oil almost can't be changed often enough really, and if you can do it that economically then all the better.

I do mine with the filter every 3000 miles or 6 months, whichever's the soonest.

That's ok if your doing lots of motorway driving and long trips. But do it every 5 or 6000 and your car will love you for it.

Castrol edge 10-60w for the moment and somewhere between 5-10K miles normally for me

Every 5k miles, sooner if I know I'll not be able to when the 5k is up.

I also make a point of checking spark plug tightness at the same time. A plug through the bonnet doesn't appeal
