how do you re-map a car??

This may sound a bit daft but as some of you may or may not know i am re building my car and was after a bit of advice. I will be running oversized pistons,8000rpm dahlback cams, auto verdi rods, rs2 injectors and intercooler 044 motorsort fuelpump, metal head gasket of course, head will be ported and polished. All i was wandering really is do they rev the death of the engine to re map it because obviously if my car wont run properly due to injectors etc and needs mapping to run sweet then i have a problem because i will surely need to run the engine in at no higher than 3000rpm will i not????
So basically will my car run with that setup without being mapped??????????????????????????????????

    Thanks Rich

What turbo is that running with - K24, RS2 or something exotic. I can get you a starter map with those injectors if you like - unless its on an exotic turbo - it will run OK and to the realtime mapping gurus who can extract the max from it.

8000rpm you say - running solid cam lifters I hope !!!!

Solid lifters are non hydraulic (they require shimming to obtain the correct valve clearance)
They are used in higher revving engines as hydraulics lifters can pump up ( giving no clearance)
The theory is that 8v golf gti (DX code) solid lifters will fit (same size as S2 Hydraulic lifters) but in my experience you get problems running solid lifters with a hydraulic camshaft (different base circle i think)
Any way my 16v golf revs to 8.5k on the same lifters as an S2

If your not running solid lifters then you need to change your cam choice.

Hydraulic lifters dont like going above 7500-7600 and if they do go higher they will perish.

3B ? Ahhh - don't have much to offer here unfort... And yes - you'll need solid lifters for that camshaft - hydraulic tappets wont be happy.

I was thinking more along the lines of the high reving with the dizzy?

No, you've already got hydraulic lifters, you need solid ones.

What I did with mine was to run it in on the 3B injectors then swap over to the RS2s ready for the mapping session.
I guess you'll take it to MRC and get Mihnea to do it. It only takes a few minutes to change the injectors, I did it while Mihnea was changing the MAP sensor in the ECU.
