    Wastegate chatter?

When coming off throttle I notice a chatter noise. It sounds like a much quieter version of a group B rally car.
Is this wastegate chatter or is it turbo stall?
It has the OME recirc valve on it, could it be the noise from this or if this isn't opening could it be causing the turbo or wastegate to make this noise?

I had the same symptoms, found it was a Vacum hose had come off the back off the manifold. Check the vacum lines there or on the WGFV.

I bet your dump valve is knobbed! Diaphram splits and starts a low wuffle.

Dump valve. Mine sounded like an S1 at Combe when I came off the track! Loved it but it's not too good for the car so best to change it. Bosch 710N (Audi S3) one is more modern than the OEM S2 and a lot of people run them (including me). Should be less than £25 from VAG Parts. Or you can buy a leaking Forge one and get a sarcastic letter when you send it back for £80... the choice is yours!

Its not wastegate chatter, its air rushing back over the turbine blades which can then cause it to stall.
Sounds great, but not good in the long run!

It will be a standard brass hose tail - probably bsp thread??
You could do with a reverse drill bit type thingie to get that out....
