RS2 Cam timing with ABY water pump

    Hi,

I have been reading some threads regarding the RS2 cam pulley setting and moving it 1 tooth anti-clockwise (Using a ADU waterpump with 26 teeth).
However on my new ADU setup (ADU sw + ADU nockers + ADU cam pulley) I have the ABY waterpump fitted, together with the ABY Cam belt. How should I set the cam-pulley timing? On mark, or slightly adjusted?

    Thanks for your help.

Or is it simply impossible to combine these ADU-ABY parts? Maybe I should stick to the ABY camwheel and ABY waterpump. I hope it does not matter for the ADU nockers?

It should line up correctly, there's a couple of posts by Mark Halligan IIRC
I've moved this to a new thread

If you are using ADU ecu software then you need to run the ADU cam pulley. Im not sure how you should time the engine. If its out, it will give you WG boost (if running stock boost control etc), so if it does that move it the other way, and try again.

I think it sits with the cam pulley slightly to the left of the mark?? Its been a few months since i took one apart.

I think he is running the ADU cam pulley from his post.

If he used an ABY cam pulley it would retard ignition 10 degrees to be the same as a standard S2

Currently the car had the ABY pulley and the car does start, but is not running great. I get more then 0.8 bar boost, but the boost runs up to 1,4 bar at 3000 rpm and very fast drops back to 0,8 bar (before 4500 rpm). Now my main question is if I can use the ADU cam with the ABY waterpump and ABY timing belt, and make sure the timing is set according to the markings on the engine for ADU? Running ADU software indeed.

So your saying that using the ADU sw, ADU cam wheel and ABY waterpump + ABY timingbelt the timing markings schould be on-mark? And not 1 tooth to the left?

O yes, and I do not get a fault code, using the ABY camwheel with the ADU sw,, which makes it even more tricky to find out....

                    btw,

Thank you all for your quick answers so far!

I just found out (reading Meckis forum) that it is not a problem to use the ABY waterpump + ABY timing-belt with the ADU camwheel. The 2:1 ration between de cam wheel and crankwheel has to stay the same and the length or the number of teeth on the waterpump have no influence on this. Just have to make sure you use the ABY waterpump with a ABY timing belt or use a ADU waterpump with a ADU timing belt to span it up nicely.

Now I will fit the ADU cam wheel according to 1 tooth anti-clockwise TDC and pray the car fires up and drives like it should do
