Sorry, wasn't being clear there. Oil cooler has to be replaced (from Audi just over £200), as it's got a big hole in it from where the AA man wrenched a pipe out. However, it's been suggested it might be a good opportunity to upgrade the intercooler at the same time...

Ok surprised you didn't get the intercooler with the engine off sal?

Have a look for the thread by s2_bo about intercooler plumbing as its got some very good info about how he's done his and how most people are going lately.

crikey so did the aa bloke knacker that as well? you should be able to get another aby intercooler for about 40 quid(couple in the for sale section recently)

also, anyone know of the cheapest way to get an engine from Sal (Brum) to TAP (Bucks)? it's been mentioned that TNT overnight service may be cheap, but not looking so good to me at the moment. Anyone know the approximate dimensions and weight of an ABY engine as well? the courier/transport companies seem to want to know weight/height/length...

You may as well stick on an RS2 crossmember and intercooler while your at it,weight is approx 170kg from memory,that includes manifolds and turbo etc

found another one called ETS online pallets - £44...not bad really and max weight is £450 (height under 90cm...)

will have a think about the RS2 intercooler...how much will the hardware cost? any good sources?

Rs2 intercoolers vary I've seen them cheap but most are around the 300 mark with the crossmember.

I'd consider getting a mocal oil cooler instead of an o.e cooler, bigger one if possible

Why not take a day off and spend £50 on van hire ? (with tail-lift so you don't pop a pod lifting the engine)
Yeah ok you'll probably get it there cheaper using a courier but at least you know its there and has'nt been bashed about over speed humps
