ok guys, I have a 94 s2 avant, which has fitted with an amd ecu and .8 bar wastegate spring, non of which is ideal.
After emailing Paul he sent me his Homefries ecu to try. With the .8 bar spring fitted, his ecu did not like the spring even with almost all the preload off the lowest boost I could get with the wgfv disconnected was .7bar which was too much when paul maps his ecu for a .4 bar spring. With the help of a chap called cris from mrc I managed to get another wastegate with standard spring, which I swapped over complete. Great I thought, just adjust the spring with the wagfv disconnected for .4 bar and away we go.
As always life is not that simple, it boosts perfectly to .4 untill about 4800 rpm in but from there the pressure drops away to .3 bar falling towards the redline.Increasing the preload on the spring, does not stop this, and paul says it should hold .4 bar to the redline. The fuel pump, filter wgfv air filter plugs are all new
So what ideas do you guys have for this, I have a few.
Back pressure from the exhaust forcing the wastegate open at high rpm .cats blocked?
fuel starvation
ignition beaking down, possible but no misfire,
basic timing out.
I am cursed. the most likely answer.
Paul has been kind enough to lend me his ecu and I don't want to mess him about so any help you can offer greatly accepted.
