There are some traps with EGT position on turbocharged engines, which makes for confusing results when you richen and lean the engine.

If the EGT is mounted in the collector of the exhaust manifold the temperatures shown can be much higher then what the temperature is at the port. With EGT sensor in the collector, it is common to hear people say they make the ARF richer and the exhaust temps go up. This is because the fuel air mixture is burning in the collector rather then the cylinder.

Always mount the EGT sensor at one exhaust port of the engine. This will give you a true value that is not effected greatly by changes in AFR. Mounting the sensor in the collector as you want to see the temp of all cylinders is flawed thinking.

          6th gear, lambda 1.00-1.01, timing I don't know, had to ask my tuner. Turbo is a Garrett/Turbonetics T3/4 hybrid comp. 58mm A/R.50, ext. 55mm A/R.63.

with this theory why isnt the mixture burning in the EM port instead of the collector thus increasing the egts?I would assume that all the extra fuel would pass through the ports of the EM and then go to the collector. Most tuners reccomend to go on the turbo hotside, which is 20mm away from the collector anyway

so far whenever the mixture is richer the egt goes lower, and my sensor is in the SQ EM collector.
