help needed with misfire...

To say im getting a bit ****** off is an understatement
Car has gradually developed misfire under load when revs get to 3500.
Replaced the coilpacks and also played around with a spare pos that i have. All hoses replaced (including the one behind the IM before anybody suggests !! )
Since replacing the above the car is misfiring less though.
The boost gauge (engine has adjustable wastegate) was showing 1.5 bar before now it goes upto 1.9 .
Managed to slacken off to 1.7 bar.
The car is running Digi-Tec chips (yes- ***** i know ! )

Any ideas?

You sure it's not overboost protection or the ecu retarding the ignition? I hope it's not on a standard k24 with those boost levels. You say tweaked wastegate, has it got one of those stupid 0.9 bar springs like QRS fitted to mine? Throw the chips in the bin, get a standard spring and start again!

you got a standard spring Tris ? Im almost on top of this problem. Ive had issues like that with my old 3b with wategates / springs etc

the problem i had on the 3b was that i once put in a stiffer spring and i would get the dreaded fuel cut off cutting in. i noticed earlier today that the car sounded like it was pinking when i swapped POS's over

Is it running rich too? Check the vacuum connection to the ECU is good, that was my problem recently.

all changed buddy. this is more than a boost leak. with the pinking im thinking its the digi tec chips being too lean

Thing is with the leak in the line to the ecu the timing doesn't get set right for the amount of boost so it pings like a bstard and you get all sorts of weird symptoms, boost spikes etc., mind you the knock sensors should stop it before you actually hear it.

I've got a couple of stock WG springs if you need one, just let me know I'll bung one in the post monday am.

did just that today,put a stock spring in and what a huge difference!! also on a homefry now...as good as it gets!!
