I couldn't find Castrol RS 10W-60 in Spain. Try lots of different places, at the end I went to a BMW dealer and I use Castrol TWS MOTORSPORT 10W 60 from a BMW M3. I think they are the same although the latter can only be bought through a BMW dealer.
I have seen bottles of Champagne that are cheaper than that oil

If we are all using this oil can someone, who has space, please buy a drum of it and distribute it out - it would work out sooo much cheaper and you could even make a bit of moeny out of it and all off us will be getting it a good price - I've spent a fortune on that stuff in the last year.

I got it down to 1.8 when very hot 2 bar when warm, but Jims sounds more like he has a very sound engine if it is staying high as 3 bar when warm.

        Rafael,

in a mediterranean country like beautyful Espana the thickness of this oil can be crucial. When you ride down from Zaragoza to Madrid it can be H O T.

Hmmm, I was always under the impression that oil pressure that is too high, saps engine power and can cause problems with leaks etc.

Racing minis used to set the oil pressure blow off lower so that they were not wasting power.

Gabor I think I will stick to honey on my porridge, the other is a bit lumpy especially when cold!

There was a great television advert in England about beer where a housewife dripped beer all over the house and got her husband to lick it up ( cleaning the house with his tongue in the process)

She got into the bedroom and was about to pour the beer over herself.... and the beer ran out!

If the oil is too thick, don't you get flow problems, blockages etc leading to oil starvation and therefore wrongly higher pressure and then engine damage?

Isn't that why motor manufacturers specifiy the grade for particular engines?

Could this 10/60 stuff actually too thick?

                Good Question Dan,

The Pre war Austin 7 had a max oil pressure of 7PSI, if it was higher thanthat there was a blockage. It meant that the oil wasn't getting through.

Mine sometimes drops to about 1.4 bar when sitting in traffic. Should I be worried or is this normal with higher mileage ? It's been like that since I bought it nearly 2 years ago & it's now done over 150,000 miles. I've been using Castrol GTX Magnatec for 30,000 miles but I'll probably try the RS next time....

Hmm, I noticed my oil pressure was about 1.5bar sitting in traffic with a warm engine on Tuesday, I've done about 800 miles since the last oil change with the Synta gold stuff. Is this uncomfortably low?
