I did this with an ordinary hall sender... but I don't know if it'll works with the oem ecu
ABY Hall sender position?

Keep me updated on this
I have bought a 7A head for my rs2 and are about to do the same.
I am searching for a ABY/ADU head to use for measureing in my cnc machine with a
touch probe to get the exact pos of the hallsender.
I will fabricate mounting brakets for the hallsender.
I will public the whole machining process and measures in pictures.Comment

How do i align the hall window?
I have had an AAN head with a custom welded bracket made. I got a adjustable camwheel from Rosten with ajustable hall window, to be able to align it correctly if the bracket was somewhat off position.
Now is the question how to align it? just turn the engine to TDC and align the first flank of the window to the rightmost edge of the hallsender?
The Tommis billet camwheel had the window aligned differently compared to the original ABY one so i guess it wouldn´t work right away even if the hallsender is spot on.sigpic

I've got around 20 hallsender billet bits made up. Got a simple jig that allows you to weld it to the head without Machining the head. So normally only charge £50 supplied and fitted or if someone wants to make their own jig 25 for just the billet bit.UrS6 Stroker + HTA3586 =

hall window
Sorry, meant the hall window when i mentioned the aligning. The hall sender is welded onto the AAN head using a jig so should be pretty spot on.sigpic

I think you need to start with the measurement of the AAN exhaust cam sprocket and the position of its Hall sender window. For example, lets say you measure the centre of the stock AAN hall sender window position to be 30 degrees clockwise from the centre of the keyway groove in the sprocket. (I just made 30 and clockwise up BTW, you'll have to measure the exact position yourself).
So with your measurements, set up the adjustable cam wheel and hall window identically. Now, if you decide that you want to rotate the cam sprocket 10 degrees clockwise (from the front of the engine) from the OE position (to improve engine performance or whatever), you need to rotate the adjustable hall window 10 degrees anticlockwise (relative to the front of the engine and relative to the cam sprocket). Likewise if you wanted to rotate the cam sprocket 10 degrees anticlockwise, you need to rotate the hall window 10 degrees clockwise.
Sound right?

hall sender aligning?
Good idea to measure the ABY camgear window offset and copy onto the adjustable one.
Just read through this: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/22580.phtml in which it says the G40 hallsensor i just for determining what stroke the engine is in. This makes sense to me since not all adjustable camsprockets have adjustable hallsensor windows and every adjustment of the sprocket would offset the sensorwindow from cyl1 TDC.
I´ll just align the window inside the sender at tdc and it should work, or what does the experts say?
But i don´t agree with the direction of aligning, when moving the camgear adjustment clockwise you also move the crank clockwise therefore retarding the camgears with respect to the crank position. To get the window inside the sender again at tdc you would have to back the crank up again to tdc and then adjust the hallwindow clockwise until inside the sender.sigpic

I think you are wrong. With the cam belt off, the cams and crank are independent of each other. What you want is the exact same degree offset for the Hall sender window on the adjustable cam sprocket as the offset from the keyway on the OE cam sprocket and Hall sender window. Nothing to do with the crank if you left it at TDC....But i don´t agree with the direction of aligning, when moving the camgear adjustment clockwise you also move the crank clockwise therefore retarding the camgears with respect to the crank position. well done !!!
this is easyest way to do it.. I alredy saw your procedure (idea) somewere , and sugest to my friend when he do conversation on his 3B head.
he done it , and work perfect.Comment

Ok, i understand what you mean, we are talking about two different adjustable camgears. On the camgear from Rosten i have, the hall window is fastened to the camgear center section, and doesn´t move at all when you retard or advance the outer sprocket.sigpic

Then I don't know how/why that would work. In my opinion if you advance or retard the exhaust cam from the normal AAN/ABY position, then you have to move the Hall sender window the same number of degrees in the other direction. This is why the RS2 Exhaust cam sprocket is different than the AAN/ABY sprocket. The RS2 cam is rotated 10 degrees. It's "B" Hall sender window has also been rotated 10 degrees in the opposite direction.
I thought the adjustable cam sprocket you were talking about also had a adjustable Hall sender window.
Good luck.
