    Issue

Finnaly installed my new engine (that have spent over 2 years sitting in the garage).

Now after starting I'm getting a LOT of oil in the exhaust pipe.... The car stal at ideling and only work at high revs. Software isn't reprogramed (from 220HP to around 500)

Engine is PK motorsport build. Turbo is GT30R. Catch Tank fitted but doesn't get any oil in it .

    Turbo checked and doesn't leak.

I'm loosing about 1L of oil in few mins.

    Compressions is :

    5 , 10.5 , 10.5 , 11 , 9.5

I'm guessing it could be oil rings that doesn't sit where they should be becouse of sintetic oil being used previously (previous owner of the engine , engine is 2000km old) and engine didn't work for few years. But I still can't get the idea why i'm loosing so much oil.

    Any guess ?

P.S. head is mechanical. 10.8 camshafts.

Maybe any oil sensor , plug or whatever I should look into ? I'm thinking about dismanting the engine too look , but still want o know if there is anything particular too look excep oil rings.
    Vadim.

New engine (mechanical PKM head) , Alcon 332mm brakes , Pauter rods , Mahle pistons, GT30R , kw v2 sucpension , new exhaust. 608HP. For SALE !

    .

Compression on 5 looks bad, strip it down first.

Sounds like its got a melted piston, nipped rings= low compression and no oil control.

Rings most definately , or the entire piston. Also check the valve guides and seals when taking the engine apart. A good thing is to do a complete compression / leakdown test before putting in a used engine, this way to reduce labor and costs.

          Good luck

            Doh....

Dont think its valve seals, shouldn't leak that much...unless there are no guides as well

Check the head as well, i'm hoping for a holed piston...with the debris in the sump and no bore damage...

            Here's hoping for ya..

If you want to play some kind of russian roulette, you can fill the cylinder with no compression with mix of denaturated alcohol, kerosine and aceton . Don't know if the english translation is OK, but I'm sure you will get that it is. I suspect that the most important part is kerosine. Whole procedure is following:

                1. Mix the potion with equal parts of acetone, denaturated alcohol and acetone.
                2. Rotate engine to the position, where piston is on lower point.
                3. Fill thing through the spark plug hole (plug rests on the table)
                4. Leave it for a night or day 5-8 hours), you may need to add mixture, if it will run down to the sump.
                5. Disconnect ecu, put some cloth to the spark plug hole, crank engine for some time, for mixture come out of the cylinder. Wind in a plug.
                6. Start engine, and leave it working, until it becomes warm (don't know, 50C?)
                7. Replace oil, filter, stuff, warm the engine, measure compression.

It's from zhiguli times, may NOT work on S2, however I have claim, that it worked for 1.8T.

kwlw: Thank , got the same tip from a local Chief or Subaru Rally Team . he said it could release the rings to the right place , removing old oil that glue it to the piston. But he anyways adviced to strip the engine down
