hi all i was wandering what was the best dump valve for the s2? I know they are not everybodies taste but i am after a really loud woooossh like a scooby or a escort.
If anybody knows the best place for a really loud dump valve please post it up as i am after someone that has btdt.
This has been covered a few times before. A diverter valve is fitted as standard which dumps back to the system and a BOV which you are after dumps to the atmosphere which the motronic system sees a a boost leak.

The 50mm turbo smart BOV is a very nice bit of kit same for the tial
For a chipped standard car a 710n is fine, it's a recirc though. Venting to atmosphere is not ideal with the air flow meter as previously posted. It would cause the car to run slightly rich due to less air than expected.
Am I right in thinking that the Turbosmart valves are recirc valves that have an adjustable atmospheric valve too?
I run a Forge and it's OK apart from the first one I had leaked as it was defective, sent it back to Forge who exchanged it but also sent a snotty note effectively saying there was nothing wrong with it and enclosed 2 jubilee clips so that I could fit it properly. It was properly phooked, if you blew into it then it leaked

Im using a Turbosmart Kompact which is fully adjustable, turn all one way for stealth and the other way for a nice dump, I keep mine set around the middle which gives a nice dump when pushing the car and a nice rally stlye flutter when driving it smoothly, and its been running perfectly now for the last 4 months.
Ive seen them advertised in Demon Tweaks at about £160 but got mine off the bay for £75 barley used.

Look at the dual version by Turbosmart, recirc when you are ponsing about so you don't scare children and bystanders or look like a chav, and then big vent to atmosphere Whoosh when you are on full bore.
The 710n don't seem to last long though. I found they need changing as regularly as oil.
I think the heat destroys the diaphragm and then they start to chatter and leak.
Hmmm, I think I have a 710N fitted to mine, and it gives quite an audible 'psshh' when it diverts boost.
They're usually pretty quiet aren't they? (the 710N on the quattro is anyway). Is it nacked y'think?
PeteRR, It's when your car sounds like an S1 that you have to worry The woosh is the standard noise, mine's quite loud with the front of the airbox missing.

Sorry ACIDBURN, not suggesting you are a Chav for having a VTA! , just the scooby boys with flamers who like the WRC whoosh while mullering round KFC!
Yeah thats ok, tbh mines ok but as most will probably say it sounds like a lorry/bus venting its brakes and is a bit annoying. If I could get a decent bailey one that would work fine i'd originally gone for that.
Check out Gt500 and lloyd as they are running hks ones iirc which sound the best by far but afaik they had problems with the car stalling as there is no adjustment on them for idle.
closest to a s1 that i've heard and a nice sound i've been tempted to go and get one for mine in replacement for what i have now.
