Splicing into Lambda harness, is it a problem?

    Hi,

I decided to splice into my lambda harness just before the plug connects with the plug from the Lambda probe.

However the lambda harness seems to have a screen inside which I removed and then spliced into the lambda harness.

Can this disturb the lambda signal? I mean looking a the cable from the Lambda probe to the plug, it has no screen what so ever and is very thin. So I guess there should be no problem, or what?

I have taken a couple of pictures, will post them when I get home.

    Cheers

It should be ok, most of the replacement lambda kits require you to cut the harness and re join the new cables so i dont see how splicing in to it would affect the signal.

Also most universal AFR gauges take there signal from the lambda feed with out any problems.

      Hi Bo,

Yeah I know But it was just the screen part that bugged me.

A couple of pictures to illustrate:

You'll be fine if you make some nice connections - the lambda voltage signal shouldn't be terribly sensitive to noise.

Is this for an AFR probe of some sort ? You may not need to splice in a 2nd probe - Zeitronix and others can supply a WBO2 probe that delivers a Bosch compatible narrowband output to keep the ECU happy.

Sorry if I'm 2nd guessing what you are doing here

          Hi Paul,

It first it was for an AFR gauge, but then decided to get a Zeitronix wideband sensor So that I could get more accurate readings.
So now it was just me been concerned if the removed isolation could create noise on the signal.
