    Boost gauge and fault code

I fitted a boost guage today to check if I'd plumbed eveything back together OK when putting the turbo back on. Easy or what don't know why I didn't do it before. Took ten mins to plumb it in. I haven't mounted it anywhere yet though.

Anyway readings are about 0.8 bar and 1.2-1.3 bar o/boost. I get these levels at about 4-5k rpm. This is OK yeah

Also my car was showing fault code 2132 (coolant temp sensor related) but it feels fine and doesn't show any of the suggested symptoms (from table on S2 Central) could it just be that the coolant level warning light came on after fitting the turbo (needed topping up due to losses)? Would this record this fault code?

    Cheers

Boost level should be 1.05 to 1.1 bar I think for a stock S2 on overboost. 0.8 bar for normal (foot depressed slowly to floor) sounds about right I think. You sure the car hasn't been chipped before?

    Very slow.

    Needs a chip.

The car was once 'superchipped' for three weeks. Sounds weird but that's what Quattro Sports tell me. They then put it back to standard. I though it was 1.25 on overboost.

I guess there are no leaks so I'm happy

        1.2 is ok.

Does that Fault code come back after clearing it? If not then don't worry about it. The low coolant wont have made it come on. It may be an old code??

Burning question, does it still smoke??

Like the pun - 'burning' question does it smoke!

Answer is no, not at all. So that's good news. I'm going to put the catalytic converters back on in a couple of weeks and see if the weird grey smoke comes back. If it does then it has to be the CATs.

I cleared the code, drove the car and checked again today and I get the good old 4444 so who knows. I guess the car is fine so I'll forget about it

Leave the cats off. QST claim a whopping 10 bhp increase from chucking them! Just keep them to one side for MOT tests

              Tom,

I thought that we did'nt need to have cats fitted to pass the Mot test

My car doesn't smoke at all on startup now that the cats have holes where the honeycomb used to be, and lag is just about gone - dunno about the hp increase yet though, and I'll have to get the emissions sorted out at *some* point I know.

They will, in actual fact the 3b S2 is not listed correctly in the Ninth edition emissions guide, supplied to all MOT stations. It is listed as a 2.3, could get away with that one. ABY is listed correctly, and it has a set value for cruise speed (2500-2800rpm). dont have the figures here at home can post them tomorrow m8.

But yes cat are NOT needed. Just has to pass the test!!
