    Removing RS2 Speed Limiter

    Greetings all,

I have seen some old posts here about the workshop manual mentionning the possibility of removing the speed limiter, though couldn´t find out how to do it. Has anybody done that? If so, how can I remove my RS2´s speed limiter? My car has around 420hp and I would like to see how far it could go! Any help is very welcome!

    Regards

As far as i know the RS2 never had any form of speed limiter apart from the gearing which should see you close to hitting 195mph with that many horses

There is no speed limiter, this came in way after the Rs2 finished production.

??? The RS2 was supposedly electronically limited to 262km/h due to the Dunlop tires.
According to the manual, the limiter can be bypassed by snipping the wire going to pin #38 on the ECU.

Is there any speedlimiter on the 3b s2's?

I've had 157mph/255kph (or there abouts) showing but it was still pulling, just curious as to if there ever was one?

And that was on a track day....who knows who is watching this forum

you will probably find that speedo innacurracy accounts for about 10 mph at that sort of speed, but even so, on the right track you should see it to the top of the speedo

S2 Coupes max out at 154mph, the avant is 150mph.

                No limiters

Yep, as std with just 220/230 bhp. But, with a little more, a long track straight downhill with a following gust of wind it will be more

Was that tesco car park level, on a slope, or were your readings taken on a windy day.
Even so, you must have nerves of steel to take the S2 to that sort of speed in between all the shoppers and trollies

um... ... all I know is I put my foot down out the exit to the petrol station, the back end slid round, I went back in thru the entrance and spilt my so I carried on and don't remember much more apart from having to remove parts of some sign from the front grille?

Initially, if you're bored one Friday afternoon... And fancy a bit of masochistic abuse, drive the whole distance of your local super store car park at the advertised (mandated – by red bordered sign) speed. Our Sainsbury’s say’s (5)… Which means, taking into account the size of the car park, most of the frozen produce would have thawed before departing the premises. Better still... do it on pension day...

You do know that spilling your beer in the S2 is a criminal offence
