Sorry to drag this old one up again...but do we have a definite answer as to where the 92.8 came from?
Is this true...
The 92.8 mm crank was used in the type 2 T4 models from 1991, the engines being the 2.4 litre diesel and the 2.5 litre petrol. The engine codes are AAF, ACU & AEN (petrol) and AAB (diesel). The VW part number is 074 105 019 E. To use this crank in a 2.2 KV/KU or 2.3 NG block (or even the JS or PS 2 litre), all you need to do is a little clearancing work around the middle dead centre point for number one con rod where it gets very close to the sump gasket area. You use the original 144-mm rods but you need 3A Audi pistons (82.5-mm or 83-mm if you need to re-bore an NG 2.3 due to bore wear). The crank can also be used in the 7A 20v (I am just about to build one) but you need 6A Audi/9A Corrado/Passat pistons and you need to modify the pistons for the oil jet.
Any T4 'junkies' know...
