i have a leaky heater matrix at the moment, but its not serious enough to give me a wet carpet - its losing about a litre of coolant every 500 miles, which is being evapourated in the heater and coming out of the vents as moist air. If I leave the car for a few days i get a cloud of steam for a minute or so from the vents once its warmed up, then it stops once its evapourated.
Hope you've not got any of these symptoms as its a pig of a job

Nope, glad I haven't. reminds me of when I first got my RS2 and a garage bloke spilt the coolant whilst checking the system, I was more naive then but driving away from the establishment ( QST) suddenly there was what looked like smoke rising from below the bonnet. A scary moment...
          cheers

If you are interested the casue of the leak was a broken bracket under the main radiator, this has been replaced with a new bracket now by White Cottage Quattros, as good as new....what a saga though! hope it helps if you are reading this.
