How long to change the exhaust cam?

How long would it take me to swap cams over? I fancy doing a back to back comparo with the 7A and Stock exhaust cam, I've had the 7A one in for a year or so now and it would be nice to try the stocker again, I'm missing some low down grunt. Do I need a tool to lock the cam wheel, can't remember

    Any special tools needed?

I guess its just, line all the marks up, whip the camwheel off keeping tension on the belt, swap cams and bolt it all down again? Looks like I'll have to take a fair bit of piping off though..

you need a tool to lock the cam pulley, but i think it'd be easy enough to make one, or use a fairly universal one

      EDIT: this is it:

This will give you an idea to get the belt off:

Ive used a tool like this for years -made up from old bits of bar and a couple of bolts!!!

Shouldn't have to take too much off to get to the cam- maybe a bit more to get to the belt tensioner................
        Enjoy

If you treat it like changing a cam position sensor on a ABY or AAN, then there is NO (ZERO) need to get to the belt tensioner. Check out this cam position sensor procedure and you will see why (follow the internal links to the photos).

After that, its just changing the cam (and making sure all the cam caps are in the right order and right orientation as when you started.

Yep thats the same procedure I used to change the hall sensor.

You'd have to make sure all the timing marks line up on the cams on reinstallation.

It's not a job i'd rush to do, very easy to crack a cam cap from overtighening so take time in doing it.

Thanks guys, thats a great help, I'll not try to do it during a lunch hour then.. What a shame the cambelt runs on the EX cam side, must be a POP to change the inlet cam (on the other hand there's the dizzy to worry about)
