    wobbly bottom pully

ok cards on the table time, my last 3 cars have been s2's and have all had the same problem which ive never bothered about: the bottom pulley wobbling.
Having suspected the reason for this and having a chat at the last meet ive come to the conclusion that either the crank is feked or i need a new pulley.
any btdt's? must be others as i have had this on 3 s2's now

Its a vibration damper, the pulley is rubber mounted, ok to leave alone if its just wobbling a tiny bit, replace if it wobbles a lot. I actually ran a really wobbly one on the ur for years, the engine was smoother though when it was replaced.

come to mention it the rubber looks a bit perished if i remember right. if i get a new pulley hopefully that may cure it

could be down to the dampening rubber being pulled out of shape by the v belts. if the rubber is getting warm from the engine heat it could get a bit soft. ok when the engine is running but when it is stopped the tention from one of the v belts may pull it to one side and when the rubber cools it may stay in that position. so when you start up again
you have a wobbly pully once wormed up it may come tru again. just a thought
never set your expectations to high that way you are never disapointed

Andy, I had a wobbly puilley and it was been a broken woodruff key on the sprocket, its really not with taking the chance for a £20 part IMHO.
                      worth checking.

Is that pulley from Mapleracing in Canada?
