I am running a VMAP with an RS2 turbo, etc. on an AAN. I got the VMAP that goes as low as 2.7 Bar and as high as 3.1 bar. I also went for the additional few $$ that allows me to make that adjustment with the ignition key and the throttle pedals (via the idle switch). Well worth the extra $$.

MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor (device G71), not "map" as in boost and timing chips.

The VMAP is a variable, electronic pressure transducer MAP sensor, not a chip per say:

So you are effectively tricking the car to boost much higher and in turn this then tells the ECU, then ECU allows more air/fuel and then more power.

No, the ECU needs to measure boost pressure and the VMAP allows the ECU to read higher levels of boost than in stock configuration when used in conjunction with custom ECU mapping.

ok, so if you wanted to custom re-map a s2 you would also need a VMAP? My apologies i'm learning more about these cars everyday.

enjoying the RS2 but it's a bit laggy!

OK I have read the link which explains how to configure it, but I am not sure I get what this actually acheives, since this is just a pressure sensor which converts analogue info into a digital output for the ECU. How does changing the max that the sensor can read affect the performance, unless already mapped to handle the additional boost? - In which case, most of the time the car is not making full boost

              Cheers n

You wouldn't need one for an RS2, it has a 3 bar map sensor in it, meaning the ECU can read up to 2 bar of boost standard.

If I was you i'd get either the MRC or S2central generic RS2 maps and your car will be less laggy and higher bhp.
