        weight

Weight is defo your issue. My 3B powered series 2 Cq with a six speed is now doing a 50 to 70 in 4th in 3.4secs and 2.8secs in 3rd and is only running at 0.9 bar at present. Should be seriously rapid after a proper re-chip with MAP sensor change and the car probably weighs no more than 1300kg though has the aerodynamics of a brick compared to the series 3!!
How does yours compare to these figures. Will give an indication of how its running.

I keep toying with the idea of putting all my s2 bits into a ur quattro shell. Just don't know what to do

Buy a 1 bar spring and feel the difference ( warning be prepared for the side effects of ecu boost control )
I agree. If you're after a more aggressive car this will certainly do it. I've had a few different maps. Mark at Automark prefers to map with mechanical boost control (although he can use the N75 but be prepared for a debate) and when it came back power delivery was very different. There's a few of us who are on Automark maps, but be sure to read up on the pros and cons so that it's an informed decision. How is boost controlled on the other two cars that you're comparing?

7A exhaust cam will shift the power band up a bit. I found lag increased slightly in return for the extra top end, which will help give you the feeling of a bigger kick (but it was in conjunction with a remap).

I think that Paul retains the temperature/altitude compensation in the Homefries, but was considering on version that didn't. This could be something for you, as you're after raw rather than refined.

Sounds like either the S2 isn't really for you or you'll benefit from a 7A exhaust cam and mechanical boost control to get closer to what you want and if your clutch isn't great take the opportunity to fit a 3B flywheel whilst it's being changed.

Just use a good stopwatch and your speedo, average of 3 runs on a level bit of road. Doesn't have to be down to the nearest 0.01sec. Will give an idea of performance. Mine is fairly progresive as described by others compared to some turbo motors, it isn't until you start watching the speedo that you realise just how quick it is shifting.....

Would this be able to be achieved with one of those jap style boost controllers?
(I dont know the first thing about them)

On the other cars in question, the ecu's were both chipped, and is controlled with a normal actuator

Previous owner of my RS2 had installed a bleed valve, and the car didn't feel like it was turboed. Bleed valve is nothing more than a (small) boost leak that makes the turbo spool slower. I would attain max boost at 5K in the lower gears. Running the N75 gave an entirely different kick in the back. However, I don't trust N75's at boost levels over 1.7 bar, and this particular one would leak at 1.5bar, so boost would occasionally skyrocket to 2.5bar. I then got hold of a ball and spring type boost controller, the Australian Turbo Tech unit. Cheap, small and worked great. Worked great until the ball rusted and boost once again was out of control. I then got my hands on a ceramic ball bearing, replaced the steel ball in the MBC and now it works like gold. Max boost a full 1000rpm lower than with the bleed valve, max torque is up, and the curve is entirely different, much more beefy. Max G's in 2nd gear went from 0.58G with the bleed valve to 0.7G with the ball/spring unit. The turbotech keeps pressure away from the line to the WG until max allowed boost is reached, then opens.

Yes my Blitz boost controller gives quicker boost on the S2 than the stock system.

I prefer it but because of the state of the car I wanted stock ECU boost control as if there's a fault overboost protection will occur.

In the stroker I will be running a 0.9 or 1.1 bar wastegate spring and ECU control to get a medium of both mech and electronic boost control.

That sounds like the answer for me then?
Id rather have a electronic one than a bleed valve tbh!
Are they easy to get setup?

have you got an AVCR Jamo?

with them you can control the soleniod very specifically, bring the spool time down and have gear specific boost control etc... great bits of kit
