I seem to remember a discussion ages ago (maybe on old forum) about the differences between the rs2 and s2 belt. From memory, you have to use rs2 belt if you are using rs2 water pump. IF you use S2 belt with rs2 water pump, doesnt the timing go out after a while???
Had a quick search but couldnt find anything about it.
Im sure someone here will able to tell me.

RS2 water pump has a few less teeth on it so is smaller diameter. I assume (as I never checked when I fitted it) that the RS2 item is shorter to take up the difference between S2 and RS2 WP pulleys and so allow correct use of the tensioner. I don't see why the timing would alter at all unless the tensioner was on the limit and so it slipped. This would be fairly

i have a feeling one of the belts is different by 1 tooth, but cant remember which way round it is? and i cant see why 1 tooth would make that much difference on the tensioner??
i might be wrong, thats why im asking

Yeah, RS2 would be shorter. 1 Tooth could make a fair bit of difference, Audi wouldn't have made our lives more complicated for no reason now would they...

correct. 1 tooth difference. The timing wil stay the same when you use a different timing belt as the individual tooth distances remains the same. When one tooth passes the crank pulley it will also turns the camwheel by 1 tooth.
