Can you modify 3B Engine loom to work with AAN ECU

    Any BTDTs?

Perpetually trying to convert a B4 Coupe Quattro to an ersatz S2 here in the USA.
My plans over time changed from using an S2/200q20v ECU and two piece S2 3B ECU loom on a 3b to using AAN ECU for engine management as a stepping stone to VEMS standalone.

To make the loom install easier, I wanted to know whether its possible or if anyone has modified the S2 3b Loom/ECU harness to work with the AAN...I plan on using the 3B Distributor Hall Sensor for the cam timing...

Or should I just use an AAN loom...

    Thank you much!

Yes. It can be done. Tommy200rs has done a few with success I believe.
I'm in the middle of doing mine. I've been looking for a source for the pins to add the extra cables for the POS, although it looks like I'll just have to stick with a bundle of yellow cables from Audi.
Then it's just a case of swapping 13 or so pins in the 55 pin plug, then plug in your ABY/AAN/ADU ECU and go. It sounds almost too easy.

I think that you are referring to Keith T "RockinV8" using an AAN ECU and an AAN Engine Loom/harness with a 3b engine...

        That wasn't my question ;-)
I _want_ to modify the 2 piece S2 loom to work with the AAN ECU ;-)

Good luck. I have splitted few engine looms recently for educational purposes (going to make my own typ85 optimized AAN loom).

One major advice. Before removing wire from connector - push it firmly, before putting remover pin in the hole and pulling. If you fail to do that BEFORE first strong pull - contact thingy "pins" may engrave little scrub in the plastic and it will be real PITA to get it out, and you may be forced to cut and solder wire itself (plug some copper in to it to prevent melting the plastic). I was struggling without success before someone wrote this on this forum.

I had the same problem. But I sorted it after several bent terminal barbs and sore fingers. See here.

Here one archive in net of the work how it goes:

Find the DIR_8m.XLS -file and there the step by step changes.
File has also complete list of what the 1 to 55 locations are for.

The changes need to happen in the given order to free the next wire pin location for the next move and then finally adding the coil triggers and power feeds.

The needed extra pinns are available as spare parts from every bosch center. Note that there are pins for different size wires. Use propper crimping tools when attaching new wires to the new pins. No soldering at pin. Crimping is enough and joint is more flexible.

Motronic pin removal tools that help releasing the pins from the 55 pin comb:

                Not so much advertised tools:
                95945336 and 95945335 from

Bosch has also (OEM) tools for that for sale.
                Bosch 1987352125

                I Hope this helps....

                Reminder:
you can also buy adu, aby or aan wiring set from a car that has been put into pieces ...
