@matt - yeah mine will be getting sorted over the next couple of months, I should hopefully have a huge lockup in the next few weeks then the fun will start and I can start everything.
A little bit of MRC magic.

I'm just too worried about breaking the engine to start pushing the stock bottom end, better to play safe than be landed with a bill for £££s after pushing things too far. Patience is a virtue... but it's bloody boring too

If that is the 034 3" downpipe to fit stock flange turbo then all I can say is good luck.
It took 2 days of fettling to fit mine.
Good one mate.
I'm sure I can find room in the car at Combe, bring a helmet.Ex owner of a 1993 Silver Avant - RS2 spec.

Very interesting thread... I am very glad to see that you car is working so fine. I assume that there's not a big lack of reliability using stock rods. This makes me feel even more anxious to visit the MRC base in a couple of weeks. Maybe I come back to Spain with more than one set of chips for my colleagues.

Its torque you have to watch out for with stock rods, not HP.. Mihnea will map the car with less low and mid torque on the stock rods, basically the boost comes in a bit slower than if you have steel rods.Comment

Hence David's flat yet elevated torque curve.
MRC rule !!!!
Now, I'm probably going to sound like I'm speaking nonsense BUT Doug and Mihnea mapped my Avant a few years ago ( car still pulling very strong, ate up and left an SLK 350 for dead just a few days ago ) and it will peak at 1.9 but no backing off of the boost pressure if I stay at WOT, it just keeps it at 1.9 till 7000 rpm....
Is this because I have a larger turbo that can keep up with revs ?SSComment
