    turbo choice? 400whp

hi, im looking for new turbo and this is what i want:

    400whp
good response i am not satisfied with my k24 because it has to much lag out of corners for my needs (can i get less lag? )

    my setup:
    adjusteble Fuel Pressure Regulator
    another fuelrail
    new fuellines
    maybe diffrent fuelpump
    7a exhaust cam/adjusteble camsprocket
    VEMS
    homemade exhaust manifold

these are the turbos i´ve been looking on

    Garrett gt 3071

    a/r .63/.82
    compressor housing gt28r/ 2,75" / 4"
    t3 flange/ 3" vband out

    garret gt 3076

    a/r .63 / .82
    t3 flange / 3" vband out

    kkk K26/GT3071 Dual BB

    a/r .63 / .82
    compressor housing 2.75" / 4" bellmouth (anitsurge?)

all turbos from 034motorsport, what does fot mostly best?

    cheers!

not a chance of 400WHP on the GT3071R on 98 RON.ONly maybe on race fuel.
Not even the GT3076 will be 100% certain that it will get that figure, but most likely it will. Its my next turbo actually with the .82AR

Papvas, with the garret gt3071r 0.63(for example) do you think that dont give 400hp??? in 034 motorsport says 500hp with the engine in very good condition and all the other components i think of course. aniway its possible surelly at 2,5bar... this turbo at 2.0bar how many power do you think that can give "usually" with for example the RS2 epecs parts and ECU...???

there is a big difference when you say 400 whp(wheel power) and 400hp (crank power), especially on a 4 wheel drive car where the driveterain losses are quite big.

The GT3071R .82AR is capable of 475hp max and the .63AR no more than 450hp (crank not at the wheels), with 98 octane fuel from the gas stations. If you put RACE fuel, which is very expensive and map the car for it,you might get 500hp (crank) but then you would get that only with that fuel and aggresive mapping. It is not for everyday use.Of course if you change: cams, ported head, lightweight flywheel, bigger valves, tubular manifold, reverse inlet etc and get the 3071R to work 2.5bar overboost and possibly 2 bar to the red line, yes you might get 400whp... How many are doing that to an everyday car? And how long will the car tolerate these pressures without things going wrong?Unless you are thinking of a car that you will have for race, and then strip the engine every second race..

My car is with all new engine, pistons, rods, intercooler the whole lot, and GT3071R .63AR and it makes around 350wheel power on 1.7bar to the red line(1.9bar overboost) on a rototest dyno without the wheels on.Which means that calculating about 15% losses it is around 400hp crank.Yes you can reach 2.5bar with this turbo, but you must have a freeflowing cylinder head, exhaust manifold, 3inch exhaust at least, probably no cats and as less resonators as possible... To me all these things sound as an IDEAL model and not something to say to everybody who might keep the cylinder head stock and probably use the RS2 exhaust manifold.

Everything plays it's part and if you want to have the 400hp at the wheels, better take a turbo that will be very much able to get you at least 100hp more than that crank.the 3076R .82AR takes you to 525hp crank,so that turbo ALMOST will get you the 400 wheel power on a rolling dyno(about 100hp losses usually from crank to wheels).

For 400hp crank, without lots of changes on the cylinder head, the GT3071R .82AR is the best deal.
For 400 wheel power, the smallest garret to get that is the GT3076R .82AR. for a newly built engine, with stock cylinder head.

PapVas: I have 3071R 0.63A/R and I have 450HP at 1.5 bar. So I think 500HP on 2.0 bar is possible with the right set up.

yes,can you write up the rest of the engine excactly? On what cams?ported head? original valves? what exhaust manifold?what inlet? What fuel?

You said the magic words'the right setup' which means that depends on how far you want to go with the engine, and for what use.

All these play a large role to producing the number of hp on a car.I have 1.9 and 1.7bar and according to different dynos i barely reach 400hp and that is with mahle pistons, scat rods,OEM cylinder head(not ported, original springs and valves) RS2 inlet and exhaust manifold 76mm downpipe x2cats 105mm diameter and 70mm cat back with twin resonators.

If i change cams, exhaust system, take the cats off,and remap id probably get about 40-80hp more.

                      i rest my case!

you cant use 100octance race fuel in an everyday car now,can you?

I can safely say thought that those carrets reach and overcome their limits on a race spec car....But i doubt most of us here want that.We basically like an upgraded 5inlne engine without spending a fortune and with decent hp.At least the majority.

Hats off to your car though!!

The shell fuel is available on normal shell gas stations in Poland and it is NOT race fuel. It is V-Power 100 octain fuel It costs about 1.46 Euro per litre.

then it is odd you have 450hp on 1.5bar.what dyno did you have your car on?

400whp on 3071? sorry american figure those horses over there are bigger!

to hit 400whp you need a 3076r on u.k gas
