FYI for anybody fitting a new oil pump

Rebuild it first! I found a load of fine grit inside mine last night

Jees Mark - lucky you went investigating - I assume there was some grit on the external surface that tipped you off... You could easily have destroyed an engine with that and had no proof that the grit came from a new component - you would just be blamed for general uncleanliness during the build. Nightmare - but well done for spotting it... Always amazes me just how often (myself included) you just assume a new part should be 100% OK...

Mine was Clean, I took it apart to fit the diamond drive. I have a spare drive if one wants it?

Oh hold on, I thought it would be a functional upgrade but as Jamilionaire bought it, it must just be worthless bling

I haven't bought the ICE drive, James has, it allows the pump to rev higher and not slip at higher revs maintaining oil pressure.

Think Terrybullwon is going for a high redline

Well spotted. Could have been a mega PITA.

So you're making progress? If I can be of any assistance, just phone me and I'd be happy to return the favour.

                        Kind regards.

my new oil pump would not fit properly. it seeped oil from the edges, i also had to file down a few bits to fit the pulley guard back on.

made in korea stamped on it.

Ah OK cheers Jamo, that IS interesting

Are there any thoughts on fitting them on road/occasional track cars? i.e. is it worth while whilst you're in there or should you stick with OEM? Are they big bucks for little gain or a sensible mod?

                            Cheers n

No point for a standard car IMO
