The only real way to get decent performance gains AFTER a homefry or remap will be a new Turbo, and ALL the other gubbins that go with it....

Steve.

id not bother with the RS2 ex manifold. get a proper one instead be it cast or tubular.
the reverse inlet works well. i have a wagner inlet and intercooler setup. throttle response is better and lag is less.
im runnig the 7a ex cam and so far am not that impressed. i have lost low down at present to some extent. the car used to be off like a rocket with a hill type curve. goning up and then over and dropping off. now its like its a cleaner rev but less of a hill if you know what i more a ski jump. a bit flat at the bottom. so far my belief is to stick with standard cams but im working on it.
if you go tubular remember to brace it well. mine has developed a small crack since refitting on the wastegate pipe weld. gonna weld up and brace the gate too. i only had braces from the turbo before so it must get a bit violent under there.
can recommend skimming the pistons and having the rods and pistons balanced and weight matched. it helps the smoothness for little outlay.

Ah we have a believer hehe, so many people thinking i'm anti 7A, it just aint worth it IMO.
Your not going to feel anything in reality with those upgrades.
If you have a standard turbo then your 1st two upgrades are
1) A homefry chip - essential purchase no if's or butts
2) Intercooler - RS2 or after market
Optional reverse Inlet manifold.
I wouldn't change the exhaust manifold unless your upgrading the turbo to an RS2 turbo or Garrett.
Leave the cams, if you can source an RS2 or 7A exhaust one that's fine you'll lose low down but gain higher up.
hey hey
Homefries done
IC - RS2 to go on - waiting in the garage

RS turbo for sure but the Manifold question is about breathing but also what is worth spending bucks on what isnt or gives su8ch a marginal difference its not wioth it £ 4 £ as such
How does the reverse inlet work out --- fixing and what does it actually do .. sounds like a good option, quicker response on the peddle--- yes please....
the idle is slightly lumpy on mine with the 7a. is that normal or am i a tooth out. its ultra smooth over 1500rpm though.
i got caught by a cossie and a starlet turbo yesterday. pre build i know i wouldn't have but i did not use all the beans yesterday either. i wanna drive not fix. the crack in the manifold didn't help i dont think. aqnd im only runnnig 1.1bar at present until i weld it.
for a road car up to 400hp i would not use the 7a. i had around 420hp before the build so ill wait and see. hopefully more boost pressure will fix the issue.
should have seen the turbo sizes at gatebil jamo. they were all runnig cams too. some guy stripped and built a cossy engine in about 6 hours.
sorry to hijack thread.
aby is fine for 400hp. charge air can get hot and it has a long way to go. the grand handed to carsten sorts that out but you have a few other issues to address.
the wagner gives you a handy place to store the chinese/indian on the way home. not car but body performance.
what about the RS2 inlet manifold.... is that a worthy putrchase or stay ABY ?
The RS2 IM is identical apart from it doesn't say "Powered by Porsche" on it!

remove inlet. fit new inlet. swap other bits over like injectors, ISV
extend a couple of vac hoses.
extend throttle cable.
remove x member. fit new one. move snub mounting bracket if needed. fit intercooler connect hose.
dont refit all plastics.
remove plastic from underside of bonnet. using a panel hammer flatten where the cable carrier hits so bonnect will close. trim the black plastic on the trottle body that holds the cable. trim only the top edge.
this will help with the following.
access to cams. access to wiring at back of engine, changing cam belt, srtting timing, turning engine over, making power.

The RS2 IM is only a bling purchase as it is just an ABY manifold with a powered by Porsche badge on it. All internal and external dimensions are the same as an ABY thus it offers no advantage.
