Well, good news finally. I've found the problem and rectified it. The Samco hose that comes from the outlet of the intercooler to the metal pipe that goes to the throttle body, was pretty much off the outlet of the intercooler.
Whether I'd pulled it off in the struggle to get the other end of that hose on or if a little bit of boost popped it off, I dont know.
Upon closer inspection, the top part of the outlet/hose was still on the intercooler and the clip still fairly tight, from above, this joint looked spot on, unfortunately, from underneath this was to be otherwise, the bottom half of the hose, wasn't even fitted, so all the boost was escaping through there.
Re-fitted it, put a nice clip on the WGFV>wastegate hose, replaced as many of the braided vacuum pipes as I could with silicone ones and hey presto! She works again.*
*Until I blew the vacuum pipe out the back of the boost gauge and split it under full boost.
